The Barry B. Standish Veteran Home is Official!

| July 6, 2012 | 1 Comments

On June 29, Sam Greenberg and Karla Porter signed documents that made the donation of a single family home in Nanticoke, by Mary Ann Standish, official.  Mary Ann is the sister of the late Barry B. Standish, Vietnam Era Disabled US Army Veteran. The transfer of ownership of the home was conducted pro bono by the law firm Rosenn, Jenkins & Greenwald, LLP, Attorneys at Law. The home has been named The Barry B. Standish Veterans Home, and honoring the wishes of the donor and memory of her late brother, will be used to assist veterans in need.

Our first day of volunteer work took place imediately the following day. Members of the USAF 314th Recruiting Squadron generously spent several hours helping to prepare the home for renovation. The next work day will be Thursday, July 12 (this is a correction from the newsletter).

The 1,700 sq. ft. home is in need of extensive restoration in order to be habitable. Monetary and material donations as well as volunteer labor are needed and would be most welcome.
